Renown is the party-wide reputation value used by several progression systems in Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave. For recruitment, it is one of the two recurring numerical gates: a character may require both a Support level and a minimum Renown level before the Recruit option becomes available.

What raises Renown?
Current post-launch guides identify several reliable sources:
- Main missions
- Subquests
- Paralogues
- Hero-specific side activities and quests
- Some special events
- Audiences with the gods when available
RPG Site also documents many individual quests with direct Renown rewards, including small tutorial rewards and larger route quests later in Part I.
Subquests are one of the safest Renown sources
Generic Subquests appear around Dagsion from Part I and frequently pay Renown alongside gold or items.
A useful multi-route feature is that a Subquest you have already completed can be automatically completed on later Part I paths, with the rewards granted again. That means clearing available side content early can make later paths smoother instead of forcing you to repeat the same work manually.
Renown requirements change by route
The same character can require a different Renown level depending on the hero path.
That is why a single universal "Renown needed for this character" number is misleading. The route-specific tables are the useful view:
Renown does not replace Support
High Renown alone does not guarantee recruitment.
A recruit may also require:
- Support 1, 2 or 3;
- a character quest;
- a payment;
- specific items;
- a Paralogue;
- dialogue answers;
- a later story checkpoint;
- availability on the current route.

Efficient Renown planning
A practical approach is:
- Clear available low-cost Subquests as they appear.
- Do not ignore hero-specific quests that award Renown.
- Complete Paralogues you intend to use for recruitment.
- Check for god-audience events when the shrine icon indicates one is available.
- Before chasing a high-Renown recruit, compare whether another hero route has a lower threshold.
- Use route switching and replay as backup tools rather than waiting until the final recruitment window.
Renown and the character database
The site stores Renown as a route-specific field rather than a single character stat.
That lets pages like Sirocco, Gaitz and Ursula show different requirements for Cai, Dietrich, Theodora and Leda without creating separate duplicate character pages.
